The critically acclaimed production Oresteia is to move to Trafalgar Studios in August following a sold out run at the Almeida Theatre.

Robert Icke‘s adaptation opened at the Almeida in June as part of the theatre’s Greeks season and is Aeschylus's final play, a family drama spanning several decades

Lia Williams will lead the cast at Trafalgar Studios which also includes Lorna Brown, Jessica Brown Findlay, Annie Firbank, Joshua Higgott, Luke Thompson, Angus Wright and Hara Yannas.

Almeida's associate director, Rupert Goold, said of the transfer: "We are thrilled Oresteia is having a further life at the Trafalgar Studios with SFP [Sonia Friedman Productions] and ATG. That a production of this ambition and intensity can find a commercial life is testament to the sheer modernity of the work and Robert Icke's breath-taking vision … I believe the West End is in for another galvanising burst of exciting new work from the Almeida team."

Sir Howard Panter, joint chief executive and creative director of ATG added: "It’s been a long time since the West End has seen a Greek tragedy of this scale and magnitude … ATG and SFP are thrilled to be bringing this critically acclaimed production into the Trafalgar Studios which is undoubtedly one of the most exciting spaces in London."

Oresteia runs at Trafalgar Studios from 7 September to 7 November 2015.
