The Naked Truth about Royal Tunbridge Wells

In these rather cash-strapped days, more and more responsibility is falling on the marketing and promotion of theatres than at any time before. Obtaining publicity is already something of a challenge for the team at the Assembly Hall Theatre, due to its location right on the borders of Kent and Sussex. With the main media hubs in Brighton and Maidstone, the theatre frequently gets overlooked in favour of closer venues.

 

So, as a result, the marketing team at the theatre work doubly hard to promote the building – and their latest idea will certainly put them in the public eye, and could raise the public eyebrow as well.

 

Following on from the massively successful free dance workshops that they offered prior to the run of Chicago, and the equally popular free acting workshops that they tagged on to the appearance of Blood Brothers, they have now come up with their most daring idea to date.

 

Linked in with the appearance of Calendar Girls, and totally in the same spirit as those wonderfully generous, and naked, Women’s Institute ladies, the theatre, together with the Tunbridge Wells Adult Education Centre, is offering a free life drawing class for the first 14 people to contact them.

 

The lucky few, who must be over the age of 17, will be taught, by an experienced teacher, introductory techniques in all aspects of drawing from a nude life model and will given advice and guidance as they create their pictures.  

 

The class will be held at the Assembly Hall Theatre, on Thursday 30 August from 7.00pm until 8.30pm and all interested parties can apply for a place by contacting kayleigh.minihane@tunbridgewells.gov.uk
