Rebecca Frecknall is associate director at the Almeida Theatre having previously been on the Almeida’s Resident Director programme.
For the Almeida, she has directed Romeo and Juliet; A Streetcar Named Desire (also West End, winner of three Olivier Awards); Nine Lessons and Carols: stories for a long winter; The Duchess of Malfi; Three Sisters; Summer and Smoke (also West End, winner of two Olivier Awards including Best Revival).
Her other theatre credits include The House of Bernarda Alba (National Theatre); Julie (Internationaal Theatre Amsterdam); Cabaret (West End/ Broadway, Olivier Awards for Best Director and Best Musical Revival, Critics’ Circle Award for Best Director); Sanctuary City (New York Theatre Workshop, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of a Play).
