Angie Stone

Described by the New York Times as “a new soul queen”, Angie Stone has worked with the likes of Mary J Blige and Al Green. She was the first female rapper in Sugarhill Records band The Sequance, lead vocalist in Vertical Hold, and was a backing singer for D’Angelo.Her second solo album, “Mahogany Soul”, released in November 2001, features samples from The O’Jays and Curtis Mayfield, as well as collaborations with Raphael Saadiq (Lucy Pearl / D’Angelo) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (a Tribe Called Quest producer).
