Brahms’s stated intention was to write a Requiem to comfort the living not one for the souls of the dead. The result was the beautiful Ein Deutsches Requiem which was immediately recognised as a masterpiece of exceptional vision and finally confirmed the his reputation as a composer of international stature. Conducted by Jonathan Brown, Director of Music at Malvern College, and accompanied by the accomplished musicians of Regency Sinfonia, Malvern Festival Chorus will once again be joined by members of the London-based 1885 Singers to perform this lovely work together with Mendelssohn’s ever-popular Hear My Prayer incorporating the famous Oh for the Wings of a Dove.
