About the Show

“The queers are assembling in a dirty undergrowth, their banners and daggers hidden in an eco-friendly tote” South London, 2008, Dizzee Rascals ‘Dance Wiv Me’ has been playing on the radio. With a labour government power, there is an air of early 2000s bliss with a false sense of equality. Bluewater is told through the eyes of a 17 year old girl, funny and charismatic this extraordinary girl lives a chaotic life. Her mind is filled with MSN, school, sex, Glen’s vodka and Mayfair cigarettes. We meet her as she attempts to navigate her way from Bluewater shopping centre with the girls to the weekly party happenings on a Saturday night. Little does she know, tonight is the night she unexpectedly falls in love with a girl she’s never spoken to and starts her journey to figuring out her sexuality. Hilarious, powerful and nostalgic, Bluewater takes us on a comical trip down memory lane. It’s a coming-of-age celebration we didn’t know we needed.
