Proms at… – The Soldier’s Tale

About the Show

Following the success of last year’s ‘Proms at…’ concert in Hull, the BBC Proms once again travels outside London, this time to Lincoln. The city’s 19th-century Drill Hall – home to the Fourth Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment, deployed to the Western Front in 1914 – is the evocative setting for a staged performance of Stravinsky’s First World War music-theatre piece The Soldier’s Tale. William Conway conducts the Hebrides Ensemble in this tale of a young man who sells his soul (and his violin) to the Devil in exchange for untold wealth – or so it seems. There will be no interval
