Part of the BBC Proms.
The world’s biggest classical festival demands a big finale, and it doesn’t get much bigger than the annual musical party that is the Last Night of the Proms. Expect fanfares and dances, anthems and arias, familiar classics and brand-new works from a concert that packs a whole season of highlights into just one event. Star cellist and former BBC Young Musician Sheku Kanneh-Mason and award-winning Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen join the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and conductor Dalia Stasevska as soloists in a programme that includes arias by Wagner and Verdi and the radiant Easter Hymn from Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, as well as Doreen Carwithen’s career-establishing 1945 concert overture ODTAA and the world premiere of a new work by fast-rising British composer James B. Wilson.
