Part of the BBC Proms.Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii returns as soloist in Rachmaninov’s demanding Piano Concerto No. 3 alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and its Venezuelan-born Chief Conductor Domingo Hindoyan. The lush sprawl of Rachmaninov is framed by the rhythmic energy of the Symphonic Dances from Bernstein’s West Side Story and the musical contact sport of Honegger’s tone-poem Rugby. The UK premiere of Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz’s Clara Schumann inspired Clara completes the programme.
