About the Show

Get ready to let the sunshine in! Join CFT for a celebratory weekend of open air entertainment in Oaklands Park, heralding the reopening of the Theatre ahead of the summer musical South Pacific.

Concerts in the Park will be compèred by presenter and actor Tom Read Wilson (BBC’s Celebrity Best Home Cook and E4’s Celebs Go Dating) with West End stars Carly Bawden (Romantics Anonymous, Alice, My Fair Lady), Damian Humbley (Merrily We Roll Along, Company), Emma Kingston (Fiddler on the Roof, Evita, Zorro), Maimuna Memon (Jesus Christ Superstar, Standing at the Sky’s Edge) and Ako Mitchell (Caroline, Or Change, Sister Act, The Color Purple), accompanied by a superb live band. They’ll be performing beloved numbers from musical theatre including The Greatest Showman, Hamilton,Little Shop of Horrors and Jersey Boys, alongside hits from Stevie Wonder, Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, and many more, for an uplifting performance full of sunshine and song.

The concerts are directed by Louise Shephard, whose recent work includes CFT’s Celebrating Sondheim concert, and the musical director is Theo Jamieson.

Dress floral! Why not bring on the flower power, whether in your favourite frock, leggings, a fancy tie or just a buttonhole?

The format will follow the highly successful model seen at last summer’s events, with a raised stage (and screens either side) erected next to the Festival Theatre on Oaklands Park. Plots will be marked out on the Park for all events, with small plots for up to two people and larger plots for up to six people.
