Wicked has paired up with Broadway’s Nessarose to show how access needs are being met backstage.

The hit musical is currently in its 21st year in New York.

Jenna Bainbridge is the first authentically disabled performer to play Nessarose on stage. As an ambulatory wheelchair user, her Broadway casting follows that of Marissa Bode, who was the first wheelchair-using actor to play the character in the film adaptation.

As part of Disability Pride Month this July, Bainbridge has given her Instagram followers a look backstage at the Gershwin Theatre. In the video, shared in collaboration with the Wicked show page, she gives a tour of the theatre and how it has been adapted to meet her access needs.

Also in the Broadway cast are Lencia Kebede, Allie Trimm, NaTasha Yvette Williams, Jenna Bainbridge, and Daniel Quadrino.

The musical continues to fly in the West End at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, led by Emma Kingston and Zizi Strallen.

Wicked: For Good, the second part of the award-winning film adaptation with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, bubbles into cinemas this November.
