Every month, we run down the most viewed stage stars on the WhatsOnStage website.

For those unaware, we are curating an ever-growing directory of who’s who in the West End and beyond – check out our progress so far here!

What a March we had with the mega 26th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards and lots of exciting cast announcements. Take a look at who topped our list…

This newly minted WhatsOnStage Award winner is making his professional stage debut in Paddington The Musical. In his acceptance speech on stage at The London Palladium, Timi Akinyosade laughed that he had to be quick – it was a Sunday, and he had school the next day. The young actor impresses night after night at the Savoy as Tony.

We’ve got heaven – and this cast announcement – on our minds! In the same week that the country went wild over Sam Ryder’s appearance on Big Night of Musicalswe found out more about the cast who will be joining him on stage in Jesus Christ Superstar. Those superstars include Desmonda Cathabel as Mary Magdalene and Tyrone Huntley, returning to the role of Judas.

The cast of Cats

Speaking of Andrew Lloyd Webber revivals, Jellicle cats do and Jellicle cats can top our March stage names! A massive announcement from Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre revealed the cast playing our feline friends. You’ll have to read the full list of names here, but we can safely say that Hannah Joseph, who is playing Victoria, Rachael Wooding, who is playing Grizabella and Jack Wilcox, who is playing Munkustrap, turned heads.

George Fouracres

Shakespearean actor George Fouracres was the star of the show in the first-ever episode of SNL UK (just a couple of weeks after he, alongside some castmates, presented at the 26th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards!). We can only expect to see more results like this, as WhatsOnStage editor-in-chief Alex Wood wrote: “As far as a live comedy show goes, SNL UK is about as close to live broadcast theatre as we can get in this country.”

If you could really use a buddy, look no further! David Fynn has been confirmed to be playing Beetlejuice when the hit musical finally arrives in the West End. It’s almost showtime!

In case you missed it, Paddington The Musical swept at the 26th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards! We were thrilled to mark the occasion with a bear-y special performance from composer Tom Fletcher, with Paddington performers James Hameed and Arti Shah (the pair were also nominated for Olivier Awards this month).
