The Library Theatre Company put a contemporary twist on this traditional family favourite for the festive season
A contemporary twist will be put on a traditional family favourite this Christmas.
Taking place at The Lowry, Wanted! Robin Hood tells the magical tale of the hero of Sherwood Forest, and will feature original music by composer Tom Mills.
Taking on the role of Robin Hood will be Liverpool actor Ciaran Kellgren, who is best known for his portrayal of Peter Pan at the Kensington Gardens Theatre. He will be supported by a whole host of talent, including Amelia Donkor as Marian, Emilio Doorgasingh as Walter Fitzwarren and Umar Malik as Little John.
The Library Theatre Company production has been adapted by children's theatre specialist Charles Way, directed by Amy Leach and designed by Hayley Grindle, who collaborated on last year's Manchester Theatre Award-winning production of Arabian Nights.
Way said: "There will always be an audience for the Robin Hood story. It's a timeless tale that appeals to all generations. Everyone can identify with a particular kind of hero; young, talented, cheeky, strong, romantic, and above all, a good laugh."
And Leach added: "It is a huge privilege to have the opportunity to direct one of the nation's best-loved legends in such a superb adaptation with such a talented team."
Wanted! Robin Hood runs between 29 November and 11 January.
