WhatsOnStage recently paid a visit to the Kiln Theatre in northwest London, where the cast of The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs are currently in rehearsals.

Following a 2022 sold-out staging at Soho Theatre, Iman Qureshi’s play, under the direction of Hannah Hauer-King, returns for a second run with the addition of a handful of new company members.

We sat down with Fanta Barrie (who plays Ellie), Olivier Award winner Liz Carr (Fi), Zak Ghazi-Torbati (The Men), Leah Harvey (Lori), Georgie Henley (Ana), Serena Manteghi (Dina), and Shuna Snow (Connie) to chat about the community for queer women as well as the piece’s inclusivity regardless of how we identify.

The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs, which also features Mariah Louca (as Bridget), follows a lesbian choir striving for a place on the Pride mainstage.

The creative team includes Anna Reid (designer), Zoe Spurr (lighting designer), Nicola T Chang (co-sound designer, composer and co-musical director), Tingying Dong (co-sound designer), Viki Calver (co-musical director), Stuart Burt (casting director), Yael Elisheva (assistant director), and Danielle Levy (costume supervisor).

It runs from 13 June to 12 July 2025, with tickets on sale below.
