The initial Fringe First winners have been announced after the first week of the Edinburgh Fringe.

The Scotsman gives out the awards, which are in recognition of 'outstanding' new writing premiering at the Fringe. The judging panel consists of Joyce McMillan, Jackie McGlone, Mark Fisher, Susan Mansfield, Sally Stott, Fiona Shepherd and David Pollock.

The shows include three at Summerhall: World Without Us, Heads Up and Counting Sheep. In other venues Expensive Shit was recognised at the Traverse Theatre, Angel at Gilded Balloon and The Interference at C Venues.

Shows are awarded each Friday throughout the festival.
