Storm Floris has affected a number of shows and venues at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

An Amber Alert for Scotland’s Central Belt was issued by the Met Office

Adverse weather conditions have forced some venues to close and subsequently cancel performances due to safety concerns. A statement has been released by the festival.

In it, the festival confirmed that the Fringe Street Events at The Mound, including the Innis and Gunn bar, will not take place today, 4 August. At the time of reporting, the Street Events programme on the High Street (Royal Mile) is scheduled to take place. Audiences are expected to follow the Edinburgh Festival Fringe official social media pages for further information.

A recent update from Pleasance confirmed the closure of Pleasance Courtyard and Plaza until 6pm today, with more details expected to follow later.

The full statement, posted on social media by Pleasance, reads:

“Due to the adverse weather conditions from Storm Floris prohibiting us from operating safely, Pleasance Courtyard and Pleasance Plaza are closed until 6pm today. We are assessing the situation regularly and will provide an update later today. The Box Office you purchased your ticket from will be in touch regarding cancellations. Please contact them for any further information. The safety of our audiences, artists, staff and volunteers is our priority. We thank you for your patience. The Dome and EICC are open as usual.”

The weather is disrupting other areas and events in the city and also affecting transport.
