Stephen Sondheim's award winning musical Assassins opened at the Menier Chocolate Factory last night with guests including Jonathan Ross, Jenna Russell, Jamie Muscato and Sondheim himself in attendance.

Starring Catherine Tate, Aaron Tveit, Andy Nyman and Simon Lipkin, Assassins is a twisted celebration of America, "a land where any boy can grow up to kill a president". The show explores the motives of nine individuals who attempt to assassinate American presidents.

Directed by Jamie Lloyd with set and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, choreography by Chris Bailey and musical supervision/direction from Alan Williams, Assassins plays at the Menier until 7 March.
