Sheridan Smith to star in the UK tour of Funny Girl

The Olivier Award-winner will reprise her performance as Fanny Brice

Following critically acclaimed runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Savoy Theatre, Sheridan Smith will reprise her highly praised performance as Fanny Brice at selected venues for the UK tour of Funny Girl.

Smith is scheduled to perform in Manchester, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton, Bradford, Southend, Cardiff and Dublin.

The tour will also visit Stoke, Aberdeen, Woking, Canterbury, Glasgow, Nottingham and Llandudno. Further casting will be announced shortly.

With music by Jule Styne (Gypsy), lyrics by Bob Merrill and book by Isobel Lennart, Funny Girl, which runs at the Savoy Theatre until 8 October, first opened on Broadway in 1964, transferring to London in 1966.

Michael Mayer's new production transferred to the West End earlier this year, following its record-breaking run at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
