Sandi Toksvig will adapt Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island with her sister Jenifer Toksvig in a new production at Leicester's reopened Haymarket Theatre this winter.

Directed by Matthew Forbes (War Horse), the staging is the first in-house show at the newly opened Haymarket Theatre in Leicester. It follows a young boy, Jim, as he contends with the infamous one-legged Long John Silver. The production, which runs from 13 December to 6 January, will have music by David Perkins with choreography by Ellyn Phillips.

Haymarket's main auditorium has recently been refurbished with 901 new seats, sound desks and lighting systems, as well as the installation of two café bars and a TV gallery.

Toksvig, who is known for her appearances hosting QI and presenting The Great British Bake Off, will also receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Leicester this month.
