Casting has been announced for the upcoming tour of Jon Brittain's award-winning Rotterdam.

Lucy Jane Parkinson (Joan) will star as Fiona / Adrian, alongside Bethan Cullinane (Othello) as Alice. Elijah W Harris (And The Rest of Me Floats) will play Josh and Ellie Morris (The Comedy About a Bank Robbery) will play Lelani.

The piece originally opened at Theatre503 in 2015 before transferring to Trafalgar Studios in 2016 and won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre in 2017. It then ran at the Arts Theatre in 2017.

Rotterdam follows Alice and Fiona at the point in their relationship when Fiona reveals he has always identified as a male and now wants to start living as a man called Adrian.

Parkinson said: "From the moment I saw the casting and read the play I felt connected to the
character's journey through self-discovery. This show is a turning point for theatre, both in terms
of its subject matter and its casting of non-binary/trans actors. I can't wait to use my queerness
openly and proudly to retell their story."

Donnacadh O'Briain's production opens its first touring dates on 4 April at the Rose Theatre in Kingston, before heading to venues including Theatre Royal Brighton, York Theatre Royal, Leicester Haymarket Theatre, Glassbox Theatre, Northcott Theatre, Malvern Theatre, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Theatr Clwyd, Nuffield Southampton Theatres and Devonshire Park Theatre. The tour continues until June 2019.
