Guests including Miriam Margolyes, Hugh Dennis and Andy Nyman attended the opening night of Terry Johnson's Prism at Hampstead Theatre last night.

The play, which stars Robert Lindsay and Claire Skinner, is based on the life of cinematographer Jack Cardiff and finds him settling into rural retirement after decades spent on film sets.

In her review for WhatsOnStage, Sarah Crompton hailed Lindsay's performance as the 'saving grace' of the production, adding 'the role is a gift, giving full rein to his charm, effortless dramatic timing and remarkable ability to convey fleeting and complicated emotion.'

Other guests at the opening night included Tamzin Outhwaite, Michael Frayn, Sara Kestleman and Tamla Kari.

Prism runs at Hampstead Theatre until 14 October.
