The pair of Stage Debut Award winners unite to tackle Brandon Thomas’s farce Charley’s Aunt

How do you bring a play into the present day? That’s the question facing playwright Rob Madge and director Sophie Drake, as they bring Brandon Thomas’ 19th-century gender-hopping farce, Charley’s Aunt, into the present day.
The show opens at the beautifully rustic Watermill Theatre and marks a first collaboration for the award-winning duo, who both join Alex Wood on this week’s bonus episode of the WhatsOnStage Podcast.
Chief critic Sarah Crompton and editor-in-chief Wood host a weekly series on all things theatrical. News, views, frank exchanges and lists offer an unmissable guide to what’s happening on stage (and in film and on television) now, in the past and in future.
The podcast can be listened to on various streaming platforms – including Apple Podcasts and Audible. Make sure you subscribe so you never miss an episode!
