We sat down with director Richard Gregory to find out about this year's opening event of the Manchester International Festival, What is the City but the People?

The event will see 300 people who live and work in Manchester taking to a runaway in Piccadilly Gardens that's over 100 meters long.

With live music from Graham Massey What Is the City but the People? aims to capture and celebrate the city in a way never seen before.

What is the City but the People takes place at Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester on Thursday 29 June. The Manchester International Festival runs from 29 June to 16 July.
