Casting has been announced for the new revival of Githa Sowerby's Rutherford and Son, which opens at Sheffield Crucible in February.

The play is set in 1912, and follows the overbearing patriarch Rutherford who suppresses his children's ambitions. It is directed by Caroline Steinbeis, who won the JMK Award in 2009 and recently oversaw Sheffield Theatres' revival of Love and Information.

Owen Teale (Game of Thrones) takes on the role of Rutherford, and is joined by Esh Alladi (Absolute Hell), Laura Elphinstone (Young Marx), Brian Lonsdale (Othello), Marian McLoughlin (Love and Information), Ciarán Owens (Love and Information), Lizzie Roper (The Libertine) and Danusia Samal (How to Hold Your Breath).

The piece has design by Lucy Osborne, lighting by Johanna Town, composition by Oliver Vibrans, sound design by Nick Greenhill and casting by Vicky Richardson.

Rutherford and Son runs from 8 to 23 February 2019.
