NTS puts spolight on journalism with site-specific Enquirer

Premiering in Glasgow before arriving in London, Enquirer is brought to life by directors Vicky Featherstone and John Tiffany along with their team of accomplished journalists: Paul Flynn, Deborah Orr and Ruth Wishart. Flynn is a regular writer for many popular British titles and Senior Contributing Editor at Love, a Conde Nast publication. Ruth Wishart has been a columnist for several print media outlets and Deborah Orr is a journalist for the Guardian.

Professionals from different areas of the media industry have agreed to reveal what it’s like working for major publications and share their views on the explosive recent events affecting UK journalism. Nearly 50 people have been recruited for interviews that will be recorded, transcribed and edited into a script for the show, which displays the past, present and future of the country’s newspaper journalism.

The National Theatre of Scotland has no building to call its own, resulting in presentations habitually performed in site-specific locations. Enquirer opens 26 April on an empty floor of a media office block – The Hub at Pacific Quay in Glasgow; it will be altered throughout its run to accurately reflect the issue and remain current.

With a cast comprised of Maureen Beattie, John Bett, Billy Boyd, James Anthony Pearson and Gabriel Quigley, the show moves to a yet-to-be-announced venue in East London from 3 to 20 October 2012.
