The European premiere of Big the Musical based on the 1988 comedy film starring Tom Hanks will open in November.

Big is an adaptation of the tale of Josh Baskin, a 12 year-old boy who gets trapped in an adult's body. In the 1988 film Baskin was played by Hanks. The Broadway musical is based on the film and has a book by John Wiedman and songs by David Shire and Richard Maltby. Morgan Young directs and choreographs.

Opening in November this year Big stars Jay McGuiness, The Wanted singer and champion of Strictly Come Dancing.

The piece runs in Plymouth before transferring to Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin for a Christmas run ahead of opening in the West End next year.

Big runs at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 5-12 November 2016.
