Casting has been announced for the world premiere of Weird, a new British musical that will open at Newcastle Theatre Royal from 28 to 31 January 2026.

Written by Nick Butcher, Kerri Watt and Fraser Watt, Weird retells Shakespeare’s Macbeth through the perspective of the three witches, with a pop score of original songs.

As the witches, Gabriela Benedetti will play Phoenix, Hope Dawe will play Luna and Kingsley Morton will play Angelique. They are joined by Scarlet Bilham as Lady Macbeth, Elliott Evans as Banquo, Andrew Patrick-Walker as King Duncan and Macduff, and Dean John Wilson as Macbeth.

The musical is directed by Tim Jackson, with choreography by Alexzandra Sarmiento. The creative team also includes set designer Andrew Exeter, costume designer Gabriella Slade, lighting designer Howard Hudson, sound designer Paul Gatehouse and orchestrator, musical supervisor and co-arranger Joe Beighton.

The production is almost sold out, with a limited number of additional seats now available for selected performances. As part of the Newcastle run, more than 5,000 schoolchildren from across the North East will attend performances through a collaboration between producer Michael Harrison and Newcastle Theatre Royal.
