Images have been released of Oscar nominated Lesley Manville opposite Jeremy Irons in Long Day's Journey into Night.

The show opens in the West End next week and features Manville as Mary Tyrone. Manville was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress this year for her performance in Phantom Thread. Jeremy Irons, who won an Academy Award in 1990, will play James Tyrone.

The play is by American playwright Eugene O'Neill and is considered one of the finest plays of the 20th century. It follows the Tyrone family, where mother Mary has an addiction to morphine and son Edmund is ill with tuberculosis.

The piece originally opened at the Bristol Old Vic in 2016.

Long Day's Journey into Night runs at Wyndham's Theatre from 6 February to 8 April, with previews from now.
