Conor McPherson adapts the Chekhov classic

Kristin Scott Thomas will return to the West End.
As revealed by the venue today, she is set to lead a new production of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, adapted by Conor McPherson, who reunites with director Ian Rickson.
The revival is set to play a limited season at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 3 October 2026 to 9 January 2026.
The Cherry Orchard is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.
Scott Thomas previously played Arkadian in Rickson’s acclaimed production of The Seagull, which ran both in London and on Broadway, and earned her the Olivier Award for Best Actress. She said: “Returning to the Pinter with Chekhov is like coming home to a piece of theatre that is endlessly alive. Conor McPherson’s new adaptation brings a fresh, urgent energy to The Cherry Orchard, and I am excited to be exploring Chekhov’s utterly brilliant and beautiful examination of the human heart with our director Ian Rickson.”
Tickets go on general sale from 12pm today.
The creative team for The Cherry Orchard also includes set designer Chloe Lamford, lighting designer Bruno Poet, movement director Shelley Maxwell and casting director Amy Ball.
