The musical adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar’s 1988 film opened at the Playhouse last night
The musical, which premiered on Broadway in 2010, is adapted from Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar's Oscar-nominated 1988 film of the same name. The story revolves around a professional movie dubber who discovers unsavoury secrets about her married lover after he abruptly abandons her.
Guests at the press night included Samantha Bond – recently seen in another Yazbek/Lane production, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – who was sat in front of us with her family including actor husband Alexander Hanson. She tweeted:
Pharyngitis has stopped me from going to party after @WomenVergeUK Fab perfs Great music @DavidYazbek @ThePlayhouseLDN #GreatNightOut

Wonderful evening at the ever beautiful @ThePlayhouseLDN watching @WomenVergeUK. A plethora of strong female talent. Swanky toilets too.
