Adam Lenson directs the first revival of Kander and Ebb’s musical in 20 years
Further casting has been announced for The Rink, which opens at Southwark Playhouse in May.
Joining the previously announced Caroline O'Connor will be Gemma Sutton, who joins the production to play Angel, the estranged daughter of Anna (O'Connor), an Italian housewife who runs a roller-skating rink.
Sutton's theatre credits include Strictly Ballroom (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Gypsy (Savoy) and The Go Between (Apollo).
Directed by Adam Lenson and choreographed by Fabian Aloise, the musical – which has a book by Terrence McNally and music and lyrics by Kander and Ebb – originally premiered on Broadway in 1984 and starred Chita Rivera as Anna and Liza Minnelli as her daughter Angel. The Southwark production is the first London revival in over 20 years.
Further casting for the show is to be announced.
The Rink is produced by Jack Maple and Brian Zeilinger, with musical direction by Joe Bunker, set by Bec Chippendale, costume by Libby Todd, lighting by Matt Daw, sound by Mike Thacker and casting by Jacob Sparrow.
