A fundraiser and Dionysian celebration of the Almeida Greeks season was held at the Bridgewater House last night, with guests including Andrew Scott, Billie Piper, Bertie Carvel, Tim Pigott-Smith, Simon Stephens, Zoe Wanamaker and Haydn Gwynne.
Guests were entertained by a Greek chorus, drummers, Medusas draped in snakes and live performers caked in gold.
Over dinner, Richard Goulding as Dionysos and Michael Shaeffer as Hades introduced a range of performers including Ben Aldridge, Samantha Barks (as Helen of Troy), Cynthia Erivo, Kate Fleetwood, Tim Pigott-Smith and Joe Stilgoe who performed specially commissioned pieces by Simon Stephens, Richard Thomas, David Arnold and Forbes Masson.
