Francesca Annis joins Fiennes in a new play
Theatre Royal Bath has revealed further information for its upcoming Ralph Fiennes season.
It commences next month with the world premiere of a new play by David Hare, Grace Pervades, running from 27 June to 19 July 2025.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin, it tells the story of Victorian stage stars Henry Irving and Ellen Terry, and Ellen’s troubled and brilliant children – Edith Craig and Edward Gordon Craig – who made their own contribution to the development of British theatre. Fiennes will star as Irving, alongside Miranda Raison as his wife, Ellen Terry. Sharif Afifi, Saskia Strallen and Jordan Metcalfe also feature.
The season continues with Shakespeare’s As You Like It (15 August to 6 September 2025), directed by Fiennes and starring Gloria Obianyo as Rosalind and Harriet Walter as Jaques. Complete casting has today been revealed. Bob Crowley will design both aforementioned productions.
After that, Fiennes will lead the world premiere of Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Small Hotel as Larry, an acclaimed TV celebrity whose life and career are rapidly unravelling. He’ll star alongside Francesca Annis as his domineering mother Athena. Further casting is to be announced.
Holly Race Roughan will direct the new play, which will run from 3 to 18 October 2025.
Additionally, An Evening with Patti Smith will take place on 6 July 2025. Accompanying Smith will be Tony Shanahan and Jackson Smith.
