Cult variety show ”Briefs: The Second Coming” is at London Wonderground fresh from a run in Edinburgh for a short run until 28 September. Here the company give us five reasons to go…
1. The new show is set to blow
Briefs the 2nd Coming hits back with a brand spankin, new fangled and fancy pants show. Briefs returns to South Bank Wonderground for the 2nd time with a show that stamps the high skill, trash baggery and trademark showmanship that the Briefs ensemble have earned since their humble and dysfunctional beginnings 5 years ago.
2. A little bit of something for everyone with a not so faint heart
Briefs is a cataclysm of glamour, grit, circus, drag, burlesque, comedy, theatre, fashion and vaudevillian anarchy set to a rocking soundtrack. It's a fleshy and action packed production with a physical performance style that will electrify the stunning setting of the Spiegeltent.
3. Escape into the world of Briefs the 2nd Coming
Briefs the 2nd Coming creates a fantastic world that herds the audience through a 60min extravaganza. The Briefs posse invites you to escape into the 2nd Coming which houses the sensation of a night club, the sawdust of the circus, the glitz of burlesque, the decadence of drag and the irreverence of piss take comedy.
4. The Cast
The award winning Briefs company is made of a mad mix of all male performers from opposing worlds that beautifully collide on stage. The diverse 'make and model' of the cast is key in the success of celebrating masculinity and femininity while challenging and turning on it's head the obvious archetypes of gender and culture. The cast boasts a mix of drag that will fill your eye balls with disbelief, circus artists that defy the laws of probability and a collective cross over of artistry that weaves an evening of non stop ridiculousness.
5. The reviews are in
The 2nd Coming has run havoc in it's short life span starting in Oz in May this year and has trekked straight onto an international tour with rave 5 star reviews that have been sparkling with praise and pleasure. The 2nd Coming blitzed Edinburgh Fringe Festival with sold out shows and a TO&ST cabaret award nomination.
