The show will run as part of the Norwich and Norfolk Festival line-up
An exclusive video of a new production of The Tempest has been released and it is a little different to other productions you may have seen before.
The adaptation of Shakespeare's classic text opens the Norfolk and Norwich Festival on 9 May and takes place at Great Yarmouth Hippodrome, Britain’s only surviving total Circus Building.
The site-specific production will flood the lower ground floor of the building and see the cast moving around the space using custom built underwater stage entrances and invisible walk ways. Norfolk and Norwich Festival’s artistic director William Galinsky will direct the show and has worked alongside circus company Lost in Translation and Sifu Adie Gray, a Wing Chun Kung Fu master.
The Norfolk and Norwich Festival is one of the biggest arts festivals in the UK and runs from 13 to 29 May. The programme spans performance, theatre, music, visual arts, literature and events for children and includes world premieres, concerts and one-off events.
Other highlights in the festival include interactive show Walk With Me which moves through the grounds of Felbrigg Hall using GPS technology to superimpose site-specific compositions and sounds onto the surroundings, Aurélien Bory’s industrial robot's dance Sans Objet, Flat, which suspends an apartment in the air whilst one man flies around it and Fierce Light, a world premiere from 14-18 NOW which brings together poets such as Simon Armitage with film makers and visual artists to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
