On this final day, we want to spotlight family shows to see!
Sadly, I’m not able to attend the Edinburgh Festivals this year due to family commitments and logistical hurdles. While not dishing out the stars (there’ll be some lovely WOS critics doing that very soon!), it still felt vital to use WhatsOnStage’s channels to platform exciting work that those frequenting the Fringe may be interested in. So here’s eight days, 24 shows and some tentative recommendations – this time with some family-friendly picks!
Trygve Wakenshaw brings his new family show Monsterrrr! to the Edinburgh Fringe after last year’s hit Silly Little Things. Made with German company TOBOSO, the show invites kids (and grown-ups) to let their inner monster run riot for an hour of clowning, physical theatre and gleeful chaos. Monsterrrr might be hairy, naughty and a bit of a mess, but underneath all the bristles and claws is a lonely creature desperate to belong.
Assembly George Square Gardens, to 17 August
Christiaan Hendriksen brings Treeeeee to the Fringe fresh from a Best Show nod at the UK Kids Comedy Festival 2025. In just 50 minutes, this playful mix of physical comedy and gentle storytelling explores 500 years in the life of a tree. Expect music, movement and plenty of audience giggles as Hendriksen, a Sketch Off finalist and Leicester Comedy Festival Best Debut nominee, turns the natural world into a funny, heartwarming adventure.
Underbelly Bristo Square, to 12 August
Georgia House Productions brings an offbeat bingo adventure to the Fringe with Pete and Lloyd’s interactive family show. Suitable for anyone aged eight to eight thousand, this quirky experience mixes robot frogs, weird prizes and the chance to steer a shopping bag from your seat. All you need is a charged phone — no app, no hassle, just play along in your browser.
Underbelly Cowgate, to 24 August
