A flood at the Duke of York's Theatre has caused several performances of Doctor Faustus starring Kit Harington to be cancelled.

Fans and ticket holders were informed that Saturday's matinee and evening performance of the play, which stars Game of Thrones star Harington, would not take place.

It's not the first time there has been a flood at the theatre. In January performances of two family shows were also cancelled due to flooding.

A statement from Jamie Lloyd Company issued on Instagram read: "We're really sad that we had to cancel the matinee of Doctor Faustus today. This is due to a flood in the theatre, so it is completely out of our control.

"Huge apologies to you all. The amazing #KitHarington has been signing posters in the foyer for the entire audience. What a gent. Thank you so much for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you back another time. Please contact your point of purchase."

The company also confirmed that this evening's performance will not go ahead.

Harington appeared in the foyer to meet disappointed fans. The company told ticket holders to contact their point of purchase.
