Jerry Mitchell’s production is adapted from the film starring Michael Caine
Jerry Mitchell's award-winning production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is embarking on a UK tour next year.
Opening from 5 to 16 May 2015 at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, the tour will subsequently visit Manchester, Sunderland, Liverpool, Torquay, Stoke and Oxford.
Director and choreographer Mitchell said: "I have no doubt that every city we visit will take this hilarious show to their hearts and will laugh and enjoy this musical as much as a quarter of a million people who have already seen it so far have done."
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is based on the popular 1988 film starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin, directed by Frank Oz.
Set on the French Riviera, the story sees the decadent world of sophisticated conman Lawrence Jameson come crashing down with the arrival of larger-than-life Freddy Benson – a conman of an entirely different order.
The two find themselves going head to head, pulling out all the stops in a bid for the affections of millionaire soap heiress Christine Colgate.
Further venues and casting are still to be announced. The West End production, which stars Robert Lindsay, is booking at the Savoy Theatre until 7 March 2015.
