Popular BBC sitcom Dinnerladies takes to the stage with their first national tour from Monday 18 to Saturday 23 May at Darlington Civic Theatre.
Starring Shobna Gulati and Andrew Dunn from the original cast, and with some great writing by Victoria Wood, the show revives this timeless and popular comedy classic. Based on the second TV series, Dinnerladies follows the reluctant love story of Bren and Tony, with a dose of all the favourite characters thrown in for good measure, including Anita, Dolly, Jean, Twinkle, and Stan.
Following the day-to-day lives of the kitchen staff in a factory canteen, Dinnerladies first screened on the BBC in 1998 and following huge success, it quickly created a legion of fans, who held great affection for the show’s down to earth and endearing characters.
Having won numerous awards including Best Comedy at The British Comedy Awards in 2000, Dinnerladies definitely did not outstay its welcome when it ended after 16 episodes.
Tickets are priced at £17.50 to £25 with discounts available including 20 percent off the first night. Shows are at 7.30pm, with a matinee on Thursday at 2pm.
