The singer will star as Joe Gillis in the upcoming UK and Ireland tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical
Further casting has been announced for Curve's upcoming production of Sunset Boulevard.
Danny Mac will star as Joe Gillis opposite Ria Jones in the piece, which is Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical adaptation of the classic '50s film by Billy Wilder.
Mac is about to star in On the Town at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and was due to open in Sleepless musical based on the film Sleepless in Seattle with Carley Stenson, until it was postponed earlier this year.
It was announced earlier this year that Jones would be starring as Norma Desmond in the UK and Ireland tour, which kicks off at Curve in Leicester in September. Further venues include Edinburgh Playhouse (3 to 7 October), Newcastle Theatre Royal (9 to 14 October), Birmingham Hippodrome (13 to 18 November) and Milton Keynes Theatre (28 November to 2 December).
Sunset Boulevard tells of Desmond, a fading silent film actress who persuades screenwriter Joe Gillis to work on a film script for her. It features the songs "With One Look", "The Perfect Year", "The Greatest Star Of All" and "Sunset Boulevard".
The piece has book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. Full casting for the show is yet to be announced.
Sunset Boulevard runs at Curve in Leicester from 16 to 30 September and then tours the UK until December.
