Open auditions are being held next month for the UK premiere production of Dreamgirls, which is believed to be opening in 2016.

According to the Daily Mail, American director/choreographer Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin) is teaming up with producer Sonia Friedman and casting director Pippa Ailion on the production.

The team are looking for "black and mixed race singers with strong soul/pop voices for lead roles in the show", which was made into a film starring Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy in 2006.

With music by Henry Krieger and lyrics and book by Tom Eyen, Dreamgirls tells the story of a young female singing trio called "The Dreams" and their rise to stardom in the Sixties.

The open call will be on 5 May 2015 at Glasshill Studios in SE1, between 10am and 1.30pm. Auditionees are required to take a CV and photo, as well as sheet music for their chosen song.
