The actress will follow in Elaine Paige’s footsteps as she hosts an hour-long Sunday musical theatre radio show, and she’ll also tour her comedy ”Sex In Suburbia”
Claire Sweeney will host a weekly musical theatre-themed radio show on Magic FM during March and April.
The actress will "bring her love of musical theatre to the airwaves" in the show, which will air at 3pm – directly after Elaine Paige's similar offering on Radio 2.
Sweeney will review shows, interview cast members and play musical theatre tracks, as well as "recommend the very best performances in the West End". Her stage credits include Chicago, Guys and Dolls and Educating Rita.
John Barrowman will also join Magic's team from 11 January, with a show on Sundays from 6pm. The radio station is now available across the UK on DAB Digital Radio.
Claire Sweeney has also announced a UK tour of her comedy Sex In Suburbia, which will open at the New Wimbledon Theatre on 20 February 2015.
The show, which ran last year under the name Sex in the Suburbs, explores "the mysteries of men, dating, finding Mr Right, and motherhood", and tours until 25 May.
