Casting announced for Open Air Theatre summer season

Janie Dee stars in ”The Seagull”, Alex Gaumond and Laura Pitt-Pulford lead ”Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”

Casting has been announced for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's 2015 productions of Peter Pan, The Seagull and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

Hiran Abeysekera (Behind the Beautiful Forevers) will play the title role in Peter Pan, which opens the season from 15 May to 14 June 2015, alongside David Birrell (Ragtime) as Captain Hook

Also returning to Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre will be Beverly Rudd (Smee) and George Bukhari (Nibs).

Further casting for Timothy Sheader and Liam Steel's production includes: Kae Alexander (Wendy), Patrick Osborne (John), Thomas Dennis (Michael), Rachel Donovan (Tinker Bell), Eben Figueiredo (Tootles), Thomas Pickles (Slighty) and Richard James-Neale (Curly).

The company is completed by Jacob James Beswick and Chris Lew Kum Hoi (Twins), Carl Prekopp (Gentleman Starkey), Okorie Chukwu, Owain Gwynn, Jonathan Holby and Arthur Kyeyune (Pirates), Melanie Pappenheim, Daniel Bradley, Candida Caldicot, Zands Duggan & Tamara Young (Musicians) and Joe Swain (Show Climber).

Dee leads Segull, Gaumond in Seven Brides

Next up, Olivier Award-winner Janie Dee will star as Irina Arkadina in Chekhov's The Seagull, with Sabrina Bartlett (Poldark) as Nina and Matthew Tennyson (Making Noise Quietly) as Konstantin.

Dee has previously starred in Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre productions including Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night. Directed by Matthew Dunster, The Seagull runs from 19 June to 11 July.

It's followed by Rachel Kavanaugh's revival of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (16 July-29 August), which will star Alex Gaumond (Matilda) as Adam and Laura Pitt-Pulford (The Light Princess) as Milly.

Kavanaugh reunites the creative team behind 2013's award-winning production of The Sound of Music, including designer Peter McKintosh, choreographer Alistair David and musical supervisor Gareth Valentine.

Rounding off the season at the Open Air Theatre is a revival of Sheader's 2011 production of Lord of the Flies, which runs from 3 to 12 September ahead of a UK tour. Casting is still to be announced.
