The upcoming revival of Terry Johnson’s adaptation will open at West Yorkshire Playhouse
Casting has been announced for Lucy Bailey's upcoming revival production of The Graduate.
Jack Monaghan will play Benjamin in Terry Johnson's play which opens at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in April. Catherine McCormack will play opposite him as Mrs Robinson in the piece, which is an adaptation of the 1968 novel by Charles Webb, and was made into a hit film starring Dustin Hoffman.
McCormack's previous roles include Murron MacClannough in Braveheart, and roles in films including Northstar and Dangerous Beauty. She was in the original cast of The 39 Steps and Peter Hall's production of A Doll's House at Theatre Royal Bath. Monaghan has appeared in War Horse, As You Like It at Shakespeare's Globe, the HighTide production of Pilgrims and Deposit at Hampstead Theatre.
The original production of the adaptation premiered in the West End in 2000 and starred Kathleen Turner in the role of Mrs Robinson. The Graduate is a co-production with Curve in Leicester.
The Graduate is a coming-of-age tale about a young college graduate who is seduced by an older woman and then falls in love with her daughter.
The Graduate runs from 28 April to 27 May at West Yorkshire Playhouse and then tours to Curve, Leicester (30 May to 10 June), Festival Theatre, Malvern (13 to 17 June) and New Theatre, Cardiff (20 to 24 June).
