Stratford East has announced the cast and creative team for the UK premiere of Here There Are Blueberries, a co-production with Tectonic Theater Project.

Conceived and directed by Moisés Kaufman, co-founder of Tectonic Theater Project, and co-written with Amanda Gronich, the play comes to London following runs in the United States where it was a 2024 Pulitzer Prize finalist, won the 2025 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play and received two Helen Hayes Awards. It is the first production in Stratford East artistic director Lisa Spirling’s 2026 season.

The play is based on real events. In 2007, a photo album containing Nazi-era images arrived at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. As curators investigated the photographs, the album became the subject of public debate. The play explores what the images reveal about the perpetrators of the Holocaust and about humanity.

The cast includes Geraldine Alexander as Judy Cohen and others, Scott Barrow as Karl Höcker and others, Os Leanse as Peter Wirths and others, Philippine Velge as Rebecca Erbelding and others, Paksie Vernon as Charlotte Schünzel and others, and Arthur Wilson as Rainer Höss and others. Further casting will be announced.

Audiences will be able to attend post-show discussions programmed by FASPE in collaboration with Tectonic Theater Project and Stratford East. These events will feature ethicists and scholars examining issues raised by the play and are open to ticket holders for any performance.

The creative team includes scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by David Lander, projection design by David Bengali and sound design by Bobby McElver. Casting direction is by Jacob Sparrow. Associate roles include Josh Seymour as associate director, Ben Davies as associate set designer, Hector Murray as associate lighting designer, Stivo Arnoczy as associate projection designer and Salvador Zamora as associate sound designer. The production team includes Andy Reader as production manager, Monica Trabucchi as deputy stage manager and Gúa Ástudóttir as technical assistant stage manager.

The production runs from 31 January to 28 February 2026, with press night on 11 February.

Tickets start at £10. Age guidance is 12+. Access performances include relaxed environment on 21 February, BSL interpreted on 26 February, captioned on 27 February and audio described on 28 February.
