Brokeback Mountain set to gallop to the stage in new adaptation

The story which inspired the multi award-winning film is being adapted for the stage

Producer Tom O'Connell has acqured the stage rights for Annie Proulx’s award-winning short story Brokeback Mountain.

The story of a relationship between two cowboys, that was the basis of the 2005 film starring Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams, will now have a new life on stage.

Author Annie Proulx has said that she is "looking forward with sharp anticipation to the stage interpretation" adding that it has been "a strange journey for two messed-up wannabe cow-hands from Wyoming."
