Behind the scenes photos released for Bonnie and Clyde tour

The production’s first UK and Ireland tour heads to Sunderland this week

Producers of the UK and Ireland tour of WhatsOnStage Award-winning musical Bonnie and Clyde have released behind the scenes pics as the show heads to Sunderland.

Shot exclusively by photographer Kris Askey, the images give a unique insight behind the curtain as the production prepares to open at the Sunderland Empire, where it runs from 19 to 23 March.

The cast includes Catherine Tyldesley, making her musical theatre debut as Blanche Barrow, sharing the role with Daisy Wood-Davis at certain venues. Alex James-Hatton plays the role of Clyde through to 27 July, with Nate Landskroner then taking over the role for the remainder of the tour.

Katie Tonkinson plays Bonnie Parker alongside Sam Ferriday as Marvin “Buck” Barrow. R&B and Soul singer-songwriter Jaz Ellington stars as The Preacher at select venues. Landskroner will alternate the role of Clyde Barrow at midweek matinee performances with Lauren Jones alternating the role of Bonnie Parker on Saturday matinee performances.

AJ Lewis shares the role of The Preacher at certain venues and Daniel Reid-Walters plays Ted Hinton.

Completing the cast are Taryn Sudding as Cumie Barrow/Governor Miriam Ferguson, Alexander Evans as Henry Barrow/Deputy Johnson/Ensemble, Andrew Berlin as Captain Frank Hamer/Ensemble, James Mateo-Salt as Sheriff Schmid/Ensemble, Callum Henderson as Bud/Archie/ Ensemble, Jasmine Beel as Stella/Emma Parker/Ensemble, Oonagh Cox as Eleanore/On-Stage Swing, Michael Cortez as Off-Stage Swing/ Resident Director and Olivia Lallo as Off-Stage Swing/Dance Captain.

Bonnie and Clyde The Musical narrates the tale of two small-town individuals who rose to become iconic and bloody figures in American folklore.

The musical features music by Tony nominee Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Tony and Oscar winner Don Black, and a book by Emmy Award nominee Ivan Menchell.

The touring production is directed and choreographed by Nick Winston, with set and costume design by Philip Witcomb, musical supervision by Katy Richardson, associate musical supervision by Nick Barstow, original arrangements and orchestrations by John McDaniel, additional arrangements and orchestrations by Jen Green, lighting design by Zoe Spurr, sound design by Tom Marshall, video design by Nina Dunn, wig design by Darren Ware, and casting by Jim Arnold CDG.

Following Sunderland, the tour will visit Cardiff, Southampton, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Woking, Bath, Manchester, Nottingham, Southend, Belfast, Bradford, Milton Keynes, Blackpool, Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Dublin, Brighton, Birmingham, Portsmouth, High Wycombe, Newcastle, Sheffield, Bromley and Northampton.
