The Barn Theatre in Cirencester has announced further productions for its 2026 Built by Barn season.

Rick Elice and Roger Rees’ Double Double will run from 28 April to 30 May, with a national press night on 30 April. The new production marks 40 years since its debut at the Fortune Theatre in 1986.

The story follows Philippa, whose husband Richard dies weeks before his 37th birthday, the date by which he needed to be alive and married in order for an inheritance to be granted. Philippa attempts to secure the £2 million inheritance by finding Richard’s double, Duncan, and presenting him as her late husband.

Yes, Prime Minister will run from 28 August to 3 October, with a national press night on 1 September. Written by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, the production follows the Barn’s staging of I’m Sorry, Prime Minister, which is currently running at the Apollo Theatre in the West End.

The play centres on Prime Minister Jim Hacker as he faces political and economic challenges while navigating his relationship with civil servant Sir Humphrey Appleby, including negotiations over a loan and conflicts within government.

Tickets for both productions are currently available to members and will go on general sale on 12 February.
