Exclusive: Korean musical Swag Age will play in concert at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London for one night only.

The show reimagines Korea’s Joseon Dynasty, where Sijo poetry has been banned and a masked rebel group called the Golbin Gang defies the regime through music and dance.

The concert marks the musical’s UK debut after performances across Korea, where it won awards including Best Picture and Best Ensemble.

Composer Lee Jeong Yeon said today: “The musical Swag Age unravels the cries and emotions of the people through the times with modern music and dance. The sentiment of joy and excitement unique to Korea, so called ‘heung’, flowing in the work goes beyond simple pleasure and is alive and breathing even at this moment with the energy of resistance and solidarity. Through this piece, I hope all of us who live today will receive the message of courage and hope that we still need.

“Furthermore, I hope this stage will be a place of empathy and communication, not only between the past and present but also the East and the West.”

The cast features Dan Yang Hee Jun, Jin Kim Soo Ha, Lim Hyun Soo, Lee Kyung Soo, Hwang Sung Jae, Jung Sun Gi, Jung A Young, Choi Il Woo, Oh Seung Hyun, Kim Jae Hyung, Ryoo Haryun, An Yebin, Lee Seo Young and Byun Jae Jun.

The creative team includes producer Song Hye Sun, director Lee Kyung-soo, choreographer Kim Eun Chong, lighting designer Lee Woo Hyung, lighting operator Go Seung Woo, lighting programmer Kim Yoo Bin, sound designer Kwon Do Kyung, sound operator Woo Jin Ah, playback Yoon Yeseul, stage management director Kim Yong Seok, production manager Kim Ji Eun and production director Lee Ye Ji.

The show takes place on 8 September 2025, with tickets on sale today.
