Exclusive: Anna Ziegler’s The Wanderers will receive its UK premiere at the Marylebone Theatre this autumn, running from 17 October to 29 November 2025. Directed by Igor Golyak, the production will have its press night on 22 October.

Following a 2023 run at the Laura Pels Theatre in New York produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company (where the cast featured Katie Holmes), the play arrives in London in a new staging by Golyak, whose production of Our Class recently won four Lucille Lortel Awards. Set design will be by Jan Pappelbaum, head of set design at Berlin’s Schaubühne theatre.

Ziegler’s play weaves together two stories. In one, Abe, a successful novelist, finds his marriage to fellow writer Sophie strained by personal disappointment and unspoken tensions. In another thread, Esther and Schmuli are a young Orthodox couple in an arranged marriage.

Ziegler is best known for Photograph 51, which starred Nicole Kidman in the West End and won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play. Her other work includes Actually, Boy, The Janeiad and Antigone (This Play I Read in High School), which opens at the Public Theater in 2026. She is also developing film and television projects.

The Wanderers is presented by Sarig Peker for Grapevine Shoot Productions and Keren Misgav for Norel Productions. Full casting and further creatives are to be announced.
